Hard Hat Tour of St Peter-in-the-Forest

Event description

About this Event

Situated in a Priority Habitat Area within Epping Forest, St Peter's is a beautiful building in a beautiful location. Consecrated in 1840, St Peter's was designed by John Shaw jr. in a rare Italian Romanesque style. The building was extended in 1887. Due to structural damage suffered at the end of the Second World War, and a series of fires in the 1970s and '90s, St Peter's is currently undergoing much needed renovation. This has been supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The current work, devised by the Citizens' Design Bureau, is being overseen by a fantastic team of building contractors from Rooff. This work will also see new facilities added to St Peter's so it can open as a cafe and visitor centre and provide the home to lots of brilliant community activities.

Some of the team from Rooff, as well as volunteers from St Peter-in-the-Forest, will be on hand to give you a tour of how far we've come, with historical and recent photographs to show the brilliant progress made.

Please muster at the side gate to the church on St Peter's Path, where refreshments will be served.

Numbers are limited in line with Covid-19 safety recommendations, and our on-site policy, so please stick to the timeslot you have booked in for! If for any reason you cannot make you selected time, please let us know ASAP so we can free up space for others to make the most of this Access All Areas opportunity!

If there are no more tickets left, or no tickets available for your preferred time, please email - we can then add you to a waiting list or do our best to create more opportunities to visit.
