The Grade II listed Canning Town Old Library is being transformed into Newham Heritage Centre, a space which will showcase our borough's extraordinary heritage and stories.
During Newham Heritage Month, we are offering residents a behind the scenes tour of this major construction project. On these guided tours, you'll get a sneak peek of the incredible restoration work being done to bring this Victorian building back as a new cultural hub which will include a reading room, display space and community space.
Once complete, the centre will be a fully accessible venue. However, it is still an active building site and many elements (including our access lift) are not yet complete. Unfortunately these tours are not suitable for those with physical access requirements at this time.
-Spaces are very limited.
-Participants will be required to wear safety equipment including a hard hat, safety boots and hi-vis clothing, which will be provided.
-These tours are open to over-18s only.
