This workshop is designed to give participants a comprehensive understanding of harm reduction in relation to drugs and alcohol, its relevance to student populations, and actionable steps to introduce harm reduction strategies on campus.
The training will cover:
- An introduction to harm reduction, including a brief history of its development
- A summary of current research on student drug and alcohol use
- Examples of harm reduction initiatives led by universities and students’ unions
- An overview of the legal considerations surrounding harm reduction efforts on campus
By the end of this training, participants will feel confident in their understanding of harm reduction and the legal framework supporting it, and will be equipped to initiate conversations about implementing harm reduction strategies on campus.
Who is this training for? This training is appropriate for both students’ union and university staff and provides the opportunity to connect with staff from other institutions who are working towards harm reduction approach to drug use.
When and where is this training taking place? The training will take place 12:00 - 14:00 on the 28th May 2025 with a comfort break included. The training will take place online.
Attendees will be the sent the Zoom link two days before the training begins.
