Event description

Description

Understanding sex work has been identified as a key requirement for a number of professional services and statutory agencies in Wales. In addition there have been a number of important changes to policy which may impact on the delivery of services to sex workers. In a response to requests from a number of third sector and statutory agencies, Swansea University in partnership with a number of external organisations has been funded by Welsh Government to deliver a series of FREE half day training sessions which aim to:

v Identify what sex work is

v Provide a basic awareness of the law in England and Wales

v Consider sex work through a bio/psycho/social lens

v Explore some of the harms often associated with sex work- for example:

  • o Substance Misuse
  • o Violence and Sexual Violence
  • o Physical, Mental and Sexual Health

v Make sex workers safer through engagement with National Ugly Mugs

v Help agencies to ask the question – Are you a sex worker?

v Consider what/how to develop a multi-agency action plan

Who should attend the training?

If you are a front line professional/service provider or organisation (statutory or third sector) academic/researcher, who is likely to have contact with sex workers then this training will be of interest to you.
