About this Event

This training is for practitioners who work with Lambeth residents only. Preference will be given to Lambeth based practitioners.

Trainers: Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP)

For over 25 years, DVIP have been helping to make women and children safer. With services across London, we work to stop domestic violence and to reduce the harm it causes to women, children and families.

This training opportunity is relevant for frontline workers or any of those who want to expand their awareness on so called ‘honour’ based violence and forced marriage. The course will cover harmful practices operating in many cultures.

Objectives

By attending this course, participants will:

  • understand harmful practices within the wider context of Violence against Women and Girls
  • be aware of harmful practices legislative and policy frameworks (safeguarding, prevention and prosecution)
  • be able to identify the risk factors that can render women and girls vulnerable to harmful practices
  • be able to identify the signs that a woman or girl is at risk of, or experiencing harmful practices
