Event description

Description

Health Being Institute and College of Medicine invite you to the first of a series of events exploring Harmony in Health:

“Harmony & healthy life: from Ancient Greece to modern Europe”.

Dr Eleni Tsiompanou, a physician and nutritional medicine consultant, is leading the workshop with ancient Greek scholar, teacher, philosopher & folklorist Dr Aggeliki Kompoholi.

Harmony, ΑΡΜΟΝΙΑ, means to join, to combine contrasted elements. Everything is connected with everything else. Our health depends on our inner & outer environment. When we live in harmony with our environments we enjoy a happy and healthy life and, we influence the world through conscious & unconscious, obvious & subtle processes!

Explore with us the concept of HARMONY through language, etymology, storytelling, philosophy and medicine.

In our Aristotelian world where everything is based on logical reasoning and divisions of good and bad, we want to be inspired, to study and understand the way to live as a harmonious human being. Join us to find out more on Saturday 22 September 2018.

Dr Eleni Tsiompanou is the founder of the Health Being Institute which brings together the science of the present and the wisdom of the past to create a new way to health and being http://healthbeing.co.uk/the-health-being-way/ . She is also the College of Medicine's Ambassador in the Harmony project: https://sustainablefoodtrust.org/key-issues/harmony-food-farming/the-harmony-project/

The Harmony Project was originally inspired by HRH, The Prince of Wales’s book Harmony: A New Way of Looking at Our World, which reminds us of some profoundly important truths, namely that everything in the universe is connected and balanced by universal laws and relationships, which express themselves everywhere and in all things, manifesting in the laws of physics, the solar system, in the shape and growth patterns of plants, in the beauty of nature, in music, in architecture and in food and farming.

Dr Aggeliki Kompoholi has an in-depth knowledge of Ancient Greek language, mythology and philosophy and, a skill in bringing this timeless wisdom to life, making it relevant to our everyday world. For her research work she has been honored by the Academy of Athens. She has published papers in many peer-reviewed journals and has participated in Greek and international conferences. For the last twenty years, she has been teaching and exploring the possibilities of implementing ancient Greek philosophy in our everyday personal, professional and social life. She collaborates with the "THERATREE" psychotherapeutic team (Awakening the Senses of the Soul) to apply philosophical thinking as an effective therapeutic tool.
