Harnessing the power of Food Citizenship

Food Citizenship Open Space Conference

October 2nd, 2019 | Crypt on the Green, London, EC1R 0EA | 10am - 4pm

How can thinking of ourselves and others as food citizens, rather than consumers, help solve the challenges of our food system?

A new idea is taking hold across the UK food and farming sector: Food Citizenship. This idea tells us and others that we are not just consumers at the end of the food chain but participants in the food system as a whole. It tells us that we have the power not just to choose but to shape the choices on offer, and to make our food systems fairer. We can and indeed are starting to work together, seeking not just what’s best for ourselves as individuals but what's best for us as communities and societies.

Join us for a day of collaboration and participation. Be inspired by hearing stories from pioneers across the sector who are helping us make the shift towards food citizenship, share your own experiences and learn from one another. By joining forces, we can tackle some of the critical food and farming issues we are all trying to solve.

A fantastic opportunity for anyone trying to empower fellow food citizens, working with food communities or wanting to reframe critical food issues by thinking of people differently.
