As increasing changes occur in the power, ability, and subsequent use of technology and communications media, there are suggestions that this growing network-human interaction is having an effect on how individuals behave and think.
I am looking for 5-10 library & information professionals to take part in a focus group and to give their opinions and thoughts on their own Internet use and their relationship with digital technology as information professionals.
The discussion will last for an hour (7pm - 8pm) and will explore:
- Increasing access to information online and memory and recall.
- New modes of communication usurping traditional methods.
- Internet use and levels of concentration.
The focus group will be held at City, University of London, Room AG02, Northampton Square, London, EC1V 0HB. Refreshments will be available during the discussion.
The focus group will take place on Wednesday 19th October. Discussion will start at 7:00pm, finishing at 8:00pm. Please arrive a little beforehand so that we can begin on time. I aim to arrive at 6:30pm to set-up and get the room ready, so feel free to arrive from then onwards.
This focus group will form part of the research for my MSc dissertation in Library Science at City University. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions: thomas.pink[at]city.ac.uk
Please note: our discussion will be recorded for the purposes of my dissertation, and transcribed afterwards. This will be an audio recording which will be destroyed once transcribing is complete.
