From Friday 28th to Sunday 30th September, Haslemere is once again proud to be hosting its annual Walking Festival, which offers a wonderful opportunity for children and adults to learn about Haslemere's wildlife and fascinating history, while at the same time enjoying the stunning walking areas both within this lovely market town and the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Long and short, easy and challenging, night and day, the three-day programme of walks will take you in and around Haslemere, across the South Downs National Park, through National Trust Heathlands and deep into the Surrey Hills AONB.

With so many beautiful areas to discover and explore with experienced walk leaders, come and join Haslemere’s 4th Walking Festival and celebrate the rich history and stunning countryside surrounding this quaint market town nestled in the Surrey Hills.

All walks are free to attend.

Booking is essential as numbers are limited.


Programme

Friday 28th September

9.30am Launch Walk -14.5 miles taking in the spectacular views from Black Down on the way to Lurgashall

10.30am Inspiring Views - the beauty of Hindhead via the Greensand Way to visit one of the Inspiring Views Art projects

6.15pm Bat Walk - spot many of the species of bats known to inhabit Haslemere

Saturday 29th September

11.00am Blue Plaque Trail - learn about the history of Haslemere through the many Blue Plaques dotted around the town

2.00pm Walk on the Wild Side - a guided walk round Imbhams Farm with the Surrey Wildlife Trust

2.30pm Wild Learning - Join knowledgeable Forest Leaders for an exciting Wild Learning experience on Marley Common

4.00pm Ghost Walk - bringing to life the ghosts of Haslemere and its surrounding area

6.15pm Bat Walk - spot many of the species of bats known to inhabit Haslemere

Sunday 30th September

10.00am Nordic Walking - a fun introduction to a total body workout that's a walk!

11.00am Escape to the Countryside - from Haslemere Station a circular walk taking in Marley Common, Fernhurst and Black Down

Booking Conditions

  • The walk leaders are in charge of the walk and their decision on participation is final.
  • Walks are aimed at all abilities and suitable for most people but you need to check the walk is suitable for you. All walks encounter hazards and you must attend the talk at the start of each walk.
  • It is the responsibility of all walkers to ensure that they are physically fit enough to take part in the walks they have chosen. If you are in doubt regarding your abilities, seek medical advice.
  • Dogs are not allowed other than on walks which are specifically described as being suitable for dogs
  • Vulnerable people including young people under18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • Appropriate footwear and clothing must be worn and bring sufficient refreshments and snacks where applicable.
  • You are responsible for your own personal safety and whilst we endeavor to make all walks as safe and enjoyable as possible, any event attended is done so at your own risk. We accept no liability for loss, accident or injury caused to any person during the festival. Check your own personal accident cover before taking part.
  • In the event of adverse weather conditions or due to unforeseen circumstances the event organiser reserves the right to cancel any walks.
