In this Founders Talk, Timi Merriman-Johnson will be talking to Andy Ayim, founder of The Angel Investing School, about the key principles of growing your business and how to secure investment from angel investors. Just how do you go about finding and approaching angel investors? Why is having a clear vision and direction so important when starting your entrepreneurial journey in order to get investment at the right time?
Through this talk, Andy will explain why he believes first time founders should be building a community around them that is diverse and reflects the society they live in. Your community matters and this ranges from your customers who love your business to investors who understand your business model and vision.

About the Speaker: Andy Ayim, The Angel Investing School
Andy Ayim is the founder of The Angel Investing School and also consults organisations on how to build Product teams that work with agility to create products customers love using his Product Playbooks. He was the Managing Director of Backstage Capital, and has worked in a range of product roles in companies such as Investec Bank and WorldFirst, acquired by Ant Financial for $700m.
Andy is passionate about creating pathways into business for people with potential from low income backgrounds. He serves on the Boards of YSYS, Flipside and Mixtape Madness – a startup which is a market leader in the music scene he co-founded with his brothers and friends.
Andy Ayim has had a portfolio career, spanning across over 6 different roles over the last 12 years. He understands that the future of work will involve people having a similar trajectory, experiencing a range of roles along their journey.

Timi Merriman-Johnson is an award-winning financial content creator, podcaster, author and founder of Mr MoneyJar, a UK-based financial education company.
