Have your say - generating more renewable energy in Nailsea and Tickenham?

North Somerset Council is committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2030 and would like to increase local renewable energy generation. We would like input from residents into future policies.

• Could your community get more of its energy from renewable sources?
• What types of renewable energy might be acceptable in your area and where?
• How could energy saving contribute?

We're holding a day-long public workshop on behalf of North Somerset Council to seek your views. Please come along to share your views. The workshop is for everyone. You don’t need to know anything about renewable energy. Lunch will be provided.

After the workshop, we will share what was said, and other outputs such as maps showing potential areas for renewable energy online. Everyone will then have the opportunity to view these and share their opinions. This consultation will be open for a month. The outputs from the workshop and consultation will influence North Somerset Council’s policies on renewable energy.

Expense claim

North Somerset Council and the Centre for Sustainable Energy are keen to make the event as accessible as we can and remove financial barriers wherever possible. The project has a small budget to contribute to people’s costs in attending the workshop, for instance to contribute to the cost of babysitting, childcare, or other travel costs (of up to £40). We will meet expense claims until this budget is exhausted. If you wish to apply for this allowance (of up to £40) to claim an expense, complete the form linked here and bring it and a copy of your receipts to the workshop. We will also have paper copies of the expense form you can complete at the event.

Covid pre-cautions:

We will require proof of a negative Lateral Flow Test result (NHS text message/email), ensuring the test is taken within 48 hours prior to the event. These tests are free and kits can be obtained from most pharmacies, workplaces, community centres etc. You may need to go online here to order a code to pick up kits from your pharmacy. Once you have done the test please register it as per the instructions given with the test to receive a text or email confirming your result.

We will provide spare face masks and hand sanitiser at the event, encourage social distancing and keep doors and windows open to maximise ventilation.
