Take part in a recorded video session to share your views on the statues, monuments, place names & plaques in Manchester's public spaces

About this event

Book your own dedicated slot online to express your views about the monuments, statues, place names and other features of our public spaces. We'll record your opinions as part of a review of these monuments, which often go unnoticed, but play an enormous part in giving us inspiration, identity, shared values and positive role models.

Recent protests for racial justice have raised the issue of whether we are properly representing our history and culture through these features of our public spaces. It's not just about racial justice, it's about all communities and histories who deserve to be counted, and it's about the stories we want future generations to grow up with.

Here you can book a slot of 8 minutes maximum in which we will give you information, and you can share your own thoughts, concerns and suggestions, as part of this major consultation by Manchester Histories for Manchester City Council. Please follow consultation link to also participate in the on-line survey.

Please complete the above consultation survey before 22nd March 2021, so that this online slot will give you the opportunity to expand and express your views in your own words.

All views and comments will be recorded, preferably on video if you are willing, and written up as part of the consultation. With your permission they may also be used as clips in a short film giving a range of views about the issue.
