This 2-day course is run by the Healthy Working Lives group and is designed to meet the syllabus requirements for Faculty of Occupational Medicine approved training for occupational health professionals. The course provides training in the requirements for health surveillance for a workforce exposed to hand-transmitted vibration, and in the diagnosis and management of an individual with HAVS.
This course is approved by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians.
It has received Faculty CPD approval worth 9.5 CPD points for full attendance.
A general understanding of occupational health is required. The course would be best suited to those practicing as occupational health nurses or physicians. No specific knowledge of HAVS is assumed or necessary.
The course will be divided to small groups using a combination of formal presentations and practical sessions. The course is provided over 2 days.
A formal assessment, will occur. Clinicians (doctors and nurses) successfully completing the formal assessment at the end of the course will be entitled to apply for a Certificate of Competence accredited by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine. The Faculty intends to list those who have received a Faculty Certificate on their website. (NB Non clinicians will not be eligible for a Faculty Certificate.)
