This 1-day course is designed for OH professionals who have previously attended a Faculty of Occupational Medicine approved course on HAVS and will provide refresher training in the requirements for health surveillance of a workforce exposed to hand-transmitted vibration, and in the diagnosis and management of individuals with HAVS.
The course is intended for practising occupational health nurses and physicians. A general understanding of occupational health is required and knowledge of HAVS consistent with previously attending a course meeting the syllabus requirements for Faculty of Occupational Medicine approved training in HAVS is assumed. Participants should review their previous training in HAVS prior to attending.
Format of Teaching
The course will involve some formal presentations but there will be particular emphasis on interactive case discussions and practical sessions. Participants are particularly requested to bring with them details of 2 or 3 cases posing challenges in diagnosis, staging or management for group discussion.
Method of Assessment
Attendance at ALL sessions is required. A formal MCQ-based assessment of knowledge and understanding will be included. A CPD Certificate will be issued by the University of Glasgow for full attendance. The course has applied to the Faculty of Occupational Medicine for 5 CPD approval.

The teachers on the course all have experience in assessing HAVS cases or measurement of vibration exposure.
