Event description

Description

Following the success of our sold-out production of Polly Teale's Brontë in March and this summer's Much Ado About Nothing, Thistledown Theatre is delighted to present this hilarious and brazen comedy as the perfect alternative Christmas show.

One weekend during the long, hot summer of 1925, the bohemian and eccentric Bliss family each invite a guest to their country pile for the weekend - without telling each other. Unsurprisingly, hilarity and high jinks ensue when the bemused guests are treated to an evening of parlour games, theatrics and generally bad behaviour! Based on a real-life family who were close to Noël Coward, Hay Fever is guaranteed to have you in stitches - a perfect addition to your festive season!

FAQs

Is this show suitable for children?

There's no naughty content in the show (with the exception of a bit of kissing!) but there is certainly a lot of witty repartee which may not interest children below the age of 10.

Are Pay What You Can Tickets available for this show?

Yes, although they will no longer be available for pre-booking on line. Unfortunately, during previous runs, some people who booked PWYC tickets then didn't use them - depriving others of the opportunity. Four PWYC tickets will be available for each performance 30 minutes before the show starts; please note, only one ticket per person.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking is heavily restricted in Oxford so we advise you to travel in by bike, bus or on foot if possible. Our venue is a 5 minute walk from the Gloucester Green bus station and adjoining underground parking facility (https://www.oxford.gov.uk/directory_record/339/gloucester_green_car_park/category/53/city_centre_car_parks). There is also on street metered parking at St. Giles, on Beaumont Street and on Broad Street with a flat rate of approximately £3 for parking after 6.30 pm. Make sure to bring change for the meter!

Bike racks are located in front of the History Faculty on George Street and on New Inn Hall Street and St. Michael's Street opposite the entrance to the venue.

There is some on-street disabled parking on New Inn Hall Street.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes it is. If you need additional info about the venue, or for any accommodations to be made for you or a member of you party, just send us an email to hello@thistledowntheatre.com and we'll be happy to help however we can.

What's your refund policy?

We do not offer refunds, however, we may be able to transfer your ticket to a different performance if you find that you are no longer able to attend on the day you have originally booked. Please note, this is subject to availability and rebooking requests must be made at least 36 hours prior to the original performance date booked.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

You do not need to worry about bringing your printed ticket to the event (save the trees!). We are happy to have a look at your ticket/ticket confirmation on your mobile. We can also check you in using just your name and ID.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Please contact us via email on hello@thistledowntheatre.com with any questions.
