1. The New Inheritance Tax Residential Relief

The session is designed to provide a deeper understanding of the Residence Nil Rate Band which will be phased in from April 2017.

By the end of the session delegates should understand:

  • Qualifying Residential Interest” and “Closely Inherited”
  • The transferability rules for spouses and civil partners
  • The impact of the Taper Threshold and planning considerations
  • Downsizing / disposal rules
  • The impact on IHT planning with the main residence
  • Will & Trust Issues

 

2. Protecting Business Assets using a Lasting Power of Attorney

This session is designed to provide deeper understanding of the need for business owners to have separate Lasting Powers of Attorney for business assets.

By the end of the session delegates should understand:

 

  • Who should consider making a Business Power of Attorney
  • What is a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA)
  • Why is a separate Business LPA needed?
  • Considerations when making a Business LPA
