How to be an Effective Doctoral Supervisor Workshop 1: Inducting your Research Student
Facilitators: Dr Grace Poulter and Dr Amy Cartwright
Description: Session one consists of an introduction to the Graduate School and Researcher Development provision at GCU and considers the responsibilities of the Academic Schools, supervisors and students at the outset of the doctoral journey. We explore the options for supervisory support, including the role of the supervisor-mentor as well as the initial process and procedures (RDC Forms) required in the first year of the PhD journey. HBEDS 1 is essential for all new supervisors.
All of the 'How to be an Effective Doctoral Supervisor' workshops are highly discursive and interactive and allow the opportunity to share experiences, explore the assistance available to first-time supervisors and take away practical tools and suggestions.
Please note: This session will take place online, once you have signed up on Eventbrite you will be sent a link the day before the event, when registration has closed.
This workshop corresponds to domain B of the Vitae Researcher Development Framework.
