About this event

From gunpowder to generative AI, the forces of disruption are repeatedly rewriting the rules of business, society, and human possibility. But what drives these revolutionary changes?

In his new book, Epic Disruptions, innovation expert Professor Scott Anthony explores pivotal innovations that have transformed industries, societies, and everyday life. The printing press. The transistor. Big Macs. Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking. The iPhone. Anthony traces the stories behind these and other powerful disruptions that rewrote the rules of business and human potential.

On September 25, he will join us to discuss how disruption really happens and why those who can spot its signals are best positioned to thrive in uncertain times. While the historical stories in Epic Disruptions are timeless, today’s moment gives a fierce urgency to understanding the patterns of disruptive change.

We hope you can join us!

Scott D. Anthony is a clinical professor of strategy at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, where his research and teaching focus on the adaptive challenges of disruptive change. Scott previously spent more than 20 years at Innosight, a growth strategy consultancy founded by Harvard Business School professor Clayton Christensen. Epic Disruptions is Scott's ninth book. Thinkers50 named him in the world’s 10 most influential management thinkers in 2023 and named him the world's leading innovative thinker in 2017.

"What connects gunpowder, the printing press, Pampers, and iPhones? Scott Anthony's engaging new book reveals powerful lessons for today's business leaders from these world-reshaping disruptions." — Amy C. Edmondson, Novartis Professor of Leadership, Harvard Business School; author, Fearless Organization
