Art journaling with Carole
I started art journaling some years ago when i was in recover from a bout of depression. I found that being able to step away from my routine and my work and do something completely different was healing. Writing down my experiences, feelings and thoughts helped me work through them and finding inspir- ing quotes and affirmations helped set me on a more positive track. Plus there was all that lovely colour to play with!
What is Art journaling?
It’s expressing yourself through a combination of art making and written journaling. That’s it. It’s not complex, and there really aren’t any rules. It’s all about self-expression.
Okay, so your inner critic is already telling you that you can’t do art! We’ll that’s the other good thing about art journaling – an- yone can do it, you don’t have to be able to draw and there are no mistakes.. no, not ever!
Some people find it a useful tool to work through their emo- tions and thoughts. For others its a space to relax and forget about the stresses of work or life. Or its just a place to experiment with art materials. There’s no right or wrong reason to do it—just enjoy the process. I’m not an artist but I can show you some techniques and share what I’ve learned.
