About this event

Following the success of our official launch and first screenings, Haringey Community Cinema is proud to present The People’s Account (1986, dir. Milton Bryan, running time: 50min), a compelling documentary that explores the oral histories of the 1985 Broadwater Farm uprising.

This screening gives an intimate insight into the lived experiences of those directly affected, amplifying voices that are often marginalised in mainstream narratives. Through personal testimonies, the film captures the events that unfolded and their enduring impact on the community.

After the screening, we invite you to join a facilitated discussion to reflect on the themes raised, share perspectives, and consider how these histories continue to resonate today. This is an opportunity to engage with fellow community members and explore ways to challenge injustice and strengthen solidarity.

About the venue

We’re excited to share that our screening will take place at the Living Under One Sun Café and Hub — a vital community space currently occupied by families resisting the Council’s plans for demolition. Join us to celebrate, connect, and stand in solidarity!
