To round up hcid2012 we are proud to announce the following keynotes,
Please note this keynote will be held in the Oliver Thompson Lecture Theater - Signs and Directions will be posted up!
1) The Four Pleasures - A Holistic Approach to User Experience, Patrick Jordan
In order to create a user experience that is functionally useful and emotionally engaging, we need to have a deep understanding of the people for who we are designing.
The four pleasures is a framework for understanding people holistically, for knowing what they want from a product or service and for guiding the delivery of a great user experience.
Its dimensions are:
Physio – to do with the body and the senses
Psycho – cognitive and emotional issues
Socio – relationships and social belonging
Ideo – values and aspirations
The presentation will describe both the theoretical basis of the framework and how it can be applied in practice.
Many examples will be given of designs that have been successful through connecting with people on one or more of these dimensions and providing an engaging user experience.

3) 'The Trouble With Originality' - Lina Pio, Skype
Abstract
This talk explores the lessons we can take from the criminal masterminds of the art underworld to create extraordinary user interfaces. The search for 'truly original' design interfaces has challenged many a designer from novice to guru. Far from being the luxurious concern of the rich, art forgery offers many lessons on 'true originality'. Why and how have many deceived art experts for so long? What is it that makes a piece of work so convincing in its originality? Can one ever find that 'true originality' in UI design or art? How might art give us clues as to how to create our own designs?
