After a year of working remotely, the Hand Engravers Association is delighted to announce this creative and social event for members to get together. Reviving our aim to encourage more engravers into copperplate engraving, this one day workshop will give engravers the opportunity to make prints from plates they have engraved. A technician will guide us through the process in the morning and there will be plenty of time during the day for attendees to make their own prints.

This workshop is a follow-on from the Copperplate Engraving project that was supported by the Goldsmiths' Centre in 2019, and some prints from all participants will be kept for the Hand Engravers Association collection. Attendees are welcome to make as many prints in the time that we have, and prints will be posted to you shortly after they have had the requisite drying time.

As the Association's first in-person event since September 2020, this is intended to be a fun and social get-together and the fee includes a light lunch and tea and coffee through the day. The fee also includes paper and postage costs for your prints.

We will also book a table somewhere local for drinks/meal after the workshop (self-funded by attendees!)

Please note this is a printing workshop for engravers and we will be learning about printing, rather than engraving, on the day.

Workshop requirements:

- Attendees must be current members of the Association at the time of booking and the workshop date. Joining takes minutes and can be done online at www.membermojo.co.uk/handengravers with memberships starting from £30

- Attendees must bring small copper plates to print from, which must have been hand engraved by the attendee. If you would like to engrave a plate for the Association's collection, please contact manager@handengravers.org.uk and we will send the postcard-sized piece of sheet copper at no charge, for you to engrave in advance of the workshop

- Attendees may find it useful to bring basic engraving tools for making adjustments to your plate in-between prints

- The event is held in a fully functioning printing workshop. Please wear appropriate clothing as inks will stain and, for your safety, no loose clothing, wear closed-toe shoes and have long hair tied back.

Covid-19:

- We will be adhering to government recommendations at the time of the workshop. Attendees may be asked to hand sanitise and wear masks on entry/exit

- If we have to cancel the event because of unexpected Covid-19 restrictions at the time of the workshop , a full refund will be given but we regret to say we cannot compensate for travel, accommodation or loss of business earnings
