Description

Healing the World: Teachings on the Practice of Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion & Purifying the Six Classes of Living Beings

Day Course Sat 16 November with Gen Kelsang Gomchen | 10am - 4:30pm

Cost: £30

This special day course will explore the Ganden Oral Lineage instructions of Purifying the Six Classes of Living Beings in conjunction with the practice of the Buddha of Compassion, as revealed in the text, The Mirror of Dharma. Through this practice we can powerfully enhance our love and compassion and create the causes for all beings to be healed of their physical and mental pain, eventually coming to abide within a Buddha’s Pure Land.

The course will include the blessing transmission and explanation of the practice of Avalokiteshvara, as well as practical teachings on how to integrate this training into our daily lives. There will be an opportunity to ask questions an engage in the practice together at the end, making prayers for all beings to abide in a state of pure happiness. Everyone is welcome.

Avalokiteshvara Retreat | Sat 23rd November | 10am - 4:30pm | BOOKING ON THIS PAGE

Following on from the previous weeks’ teachings (though it is not necessary to have attended), KMC London will be offering a guided retreat on the practice of Avalokiteshvara, through which we can receive powerful blessings from the Buddha of Compassion, awaken our own compassionate Buddha nature and benefit all living beings who inhabit the six realms of cyclic existence.

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Gen Kelsang Gomchen is a qualified Kadampa practitioner and teacher of Kadampa Buddhism who has taught widely throughout the UK. He has received extensive teachings of both Sutra and Tantra including the empowerments of Highest Yoga Tantra from Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. Gen Gomchen is known for his ability to inspire others through sincere practice and to present the deeper meanings of Venerable-Geshe-la’s books in a way that is practical and relevant to all who listen.

This course is suitable for everyone from complete beginners to experienced meditators.

What will each session consist of?
Each session will include a combination of teachings and guided meditations with an opportunity to ask questions at the end and socialize with like-minded people during the break time.

Do I need to bring anything or wear anything special?
No. All sessions will take place on chairs but there are optional cushions if you prefer to sit cross-legged. You don’t need to bring anything else with you, but some people like to take notes during the session, so feel free to bring a paper and pen.

What if I’m new to this?
Everyone is welcome to participate in this course and will benefit both new and experienced people alike. Our reception staff will happily recommend some follow on reading or classes after the course if you are interested.
