About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

Rain On Me is hosting a poetry night! While the title is borrowed from Rupi Kaur, our definition of poetry comes from William Wordworth, who said, ‘poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquillity’.

The evening is centred on the theme of mental wellbeing, which our poets have responded to in a way that feels most true to them.

Rain on Me is a non-profit community-based initiative that provides mental health support to young adults looking to de-stress, connect and grow. This poetry night is kindly funded by The National Lottery Fund. For more details, see rainonme.org

Deepanshi founded non-profit Rain On Me in 2018, after living with mental health struggles for over a decade. She wanted to meet people who would understand her and reassure her that she was not alone in her struggles. Of course, as more people started attending, she realised how badly everyone else needed this sense of community as well. And now in the form of a free, London and international peer support group, Rain On Me provides a safe, non-judgmental space for anyone needing to vent their mental distress or work on their self-growth. Rain On Me's in-person monthly sessions take place at Charing Cross Library.
