Event description
Health and Safety Training for all Bristol Parks Volunteer Leaders. This session will help volunteers run activities safely and confidently.

About this event

We want to make volunteering in Bristol's Parks as simple and successful as possible. To help volunteers undertake work safely and in line with Bristol City Council's policies, we are providing this session free of charge to all Volunteer Leaders.

In light of the continuing Covid19 pandemic, we will include training on our Covid19 volunteering risk assessment and protocol. We will also give time to explore any questions or concerns around running volunteering sessions within any restrictions that may be in place.

Once you've completed this course, you should feel well informed of the main factors to consider when organising and running a volunteer activity.

Among other topics, we'll cover the importance of and processes involved in Risk Assessments, tool use, hazardous plants and how to find additional support if you need it.

The session will be a mix of presented information, practical examples and group discussions.

Please bring suitable clothing for a walk in the park.

Thank you for considering this course. We hope it will allow you to help us improve Bristol's green spaces for everyone.

COVID19 PRECAUTIONS DURING TRAINING

You will be advised to bring and wear a face mask when moving around the Pavilion at Redcatch Park, if social distancing cannot be maintained. You will not need to wear a mask when seated or when completing the outdoor elements of the course.

Please bring your own refreshments and lunch where possible. If you cannot bring your own lunch, there is a cafe at Redcatch Community Garden.

We will provide teas and coffees in the morning.

Hand sanitiser will be available along with toilets and hand washing facilities.

Parking (bicycle and car) is available at The Broadwalk (south) end of the Park.
