Health in Faith Conference and Dinner
Sat 26 November 2016, 14:00 – 18:00 GMT
The Health in Faith Conference and Dinner is a special event to mark World Aids Day and European Testing Week. It is a time to celebrate the efforts that people of faith have made and continue to make in the fight to end HIV and AIDS in Scotland and around the world. It is also a time to remember those who have died due to HIV and AIDS and to support those affected.
Waverley Care recognises that faith is an important element in the lives of many people and is a source of strength and wellbeing especially among African communities living in Scotland. Waverley Care has been working with people of faith primarily from African communities under the Faith in Health Agenda. This agenda seeks to deliver services that reduce health inequalities and increase access to information, raise awareness and increase access to HIV testing and other health services.
The conference will share the successes of this work so far through the engagement of faith and community leaders and will also highlight the lived experiences of HIV positive African people living in Scotland. Come prepared to hear first hand some of these experiences and to witness real life stories of asylum seekers living with HIV told through an exhibition of photo images of their lives.
