Professor Dame Nicky Cullum and colleagues are pleased to invite you to the first town hall event focusing on addressing health inequalities, taking place on Tuesday 28th March 2023, 9:30am – 3pm in the Schuster building on Brunswick Street.

A full agenda will be shared in due course, with the event including lightning talks, a poster session, speed-networking, table discussions and opportunities to network informally with colleagues.

Aims of the event include:

Showcasing the breadth and scope of UoM activity around addressing health inequalities
To begin refining research themes, ahead of holding themed workshops as the next step
Providing in-person networking opportunities for internal colleagues

Addressing health inequalities is a new strategic research priority area for the University, as outlined in Nicky’s Viewpoint blog. With social responsibility as a core strategic goal of the University, we have a duty to address the challenges of health inequality. We have a wealth of expertise, to tackle not only medical challenges, but the underlying socio-economic and environmental causes of inequalities and their impacts, both locally and globally.

We’re expecting high demand for this town hall event, and the lecture theatre capacity is 200. We’ll operate a waiting list for the event once all tickets have sold out on Eventbrite. Talks will be recorded and a virtual poster booklet will also be available following the event. Further events will be arranged as we take forward ‘addressing health inequalities as a strategic research priority for the university.
