Two-day Workshop: Day 1: Thursday 23rd & Day 2: Thursday 30th April 2020

Delivered as part of Lancaster University's Health Innovation Campus this two-day workshop is for small and medium-sized businesses who are interested in the health and wellbeing sector.

A healthy diet is a fundamental determinant of good physical and mental health, it is also widely recognised as a preventative measure for a number of long-term illnesses.

Statistics show that Lancashire adults consume fewer fruit and vegetables than the UK average, and with the concentration of fast food outlets also higher than average, there is a clear indication that regional citizen health could be improved by better access to healthy food and nutritional advice.

If you are a food producer, nutrition or wellbeing expert, or part of a charity or social enterprise working in the area of food and nutrition, or perhaps you are a local business with an interest in community food solutions, this workshop is for you.

You will hear from local experts on the challenges and opportunities surrounding community food innovations such as food poverty, a sustainable food economy, affordability, and the resources and knowledge needed for food solutions.

Then through the two days you will explore ideas using a proven innovation process called Design Thinking. This process has been tried and tested in a number of sectors and provides a person-centred and structured approach to drive and implement innovation. You will put Design Thinking into practice working collaboratively to develop some solutions to food focused health challenges and leave with the tools to use in your own business or organisation.

Workshop benefits:

  • Be inspired, challenged, and motivated to innovate
  • Understand the opportunities and benefits of sustainable community food innovations
  • Understand the challenges of behaviour change, affordability and the supply chain
  • Identify opportunities for new products and services ideal for the health and wellbeing sector
  • Learn to use new tools that will help drive innovation forward for your organisation
