Event description

Description

Health and social inclusion policy developments have resulted in an increase in initiatives that target health inequalities and community involvement in health (e.g. community health projects and healthy living centres).

Health Issues in the Community, otherwise known as HIIC is a training programme aimed at increasing community capacity, increasing community participation, and establishing/ consolidating community development approaches to tackling inequalities in health.

Who is the course for?

Health Issues in the Community is ideally suited to help equip local people for the real challenges that they face in developing community responses to health issues and becoming more active citizens.

The course is delivered by trained HIIC Tutors and can be tailored to suit different community settings. It can be delivered as an accredited course. The following sections tell you about how you can run a course in your area, and how to become a HIIC Tutor.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

ID is required if you have booked a discounted rate ticket. We will need proof of age or proof of receipt on benefits.

There is not set minimum age to attend our classes - but anyone must be able to fully engage with the content of the class and we recommend children under 16 only attend classes when they are coming with an adult who is also taking part in the class.

What's the refund policy?

Refunds are avialable up to 1 week before the start of the programme.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is useful to have EITHER an e ticket or a print out to confirm a place, but we will have a full list of the people who have booked and paid, so any form of ID will ususally suffice.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, you are free to change your information, however if your booking ends up changing price, please contact us for help.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Yes, but please contact us if the person you want to transfer your booking to is not in the same price bracket as you are.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Please contact us before the class to arrange a ticket transfer.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
