Description

An opportunity for Head Teachers, Teachers, Careers and Employability Leads and other staff from within primary, secondary and special education to hear about projects, programmes and interventions known to raise aspirations and improve health and wellbeing for students in primary and seconday schools across the North West of England. Colleagues from within the public health sector are also invited to attend.

The event will include presentations by Keynote Speakers, and a series of interactive Network Workshop Tables facilitated by a leading practitioner within their field who will share their experiences with delegates.

Delegates will be invited to join the Healthy Futures Network and there will be numerous opportunities to forge collaborative partnerships with local and regional schools.

Keynote Speaker topics will include:

  • Mental Health policy, leadership and practice in schools.

  • The 'active classroom.' Strategies and techniques to encourage physical activity in a traditionally sedentary environment.

Network Workshop Tables will include:

  • The School Games Programme: Towards 60 active minutes per day.

  • Health and wellbeing services for schools (Health in Early Years, Fit4Life programme, Healthitude [PSHE] programme, Youth Health Champions, Staff wellbeing programmes and 'Triple P' Parenting programmes).

  • The 'Pathways to Health' Programme: a collaboration between the NHS, Youth Sport Trust, Sports Leaders UK and the Healthy Futures Network that includes the work of 200 Young Health Ambassadors across the North West of England.

  • The 'Active Bodies and Healthy Minds' Programme: Mental Health programmes and their impact in schools.

  • The Greater Manchester NHS Careers Hub: information on how schools and students can get involved in this activity with a view to widening participation in the NHS.

  • Young Person's Advisory Service (YPAS): experiences of working with CAMHS to provide mental and emotional health intervention programmes in Liverpool.

  • Merseyside Youth Association (MYA): 'Roar Response' training course to provide professionals with essential and useful mental health training in response to professionals, parents and young people's needs.

  • Tootoot, a powerful safeguarding tool, gives students an alternative and safe way to report concerns ranging from issues of bullying and cyber bullying, to questions about homework or worries about a friend.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Free parking will be available on the day - please follow directions of security staff upon arrival. If you require disabled facilities or parking please contact us on healthyfutures@chester.ac.uk

What can I bring into the event?

You will be provided with a Workshop Pack on the day containing resources, paper and pen. A WIFI code will also be provided. You are welcome to bring your own additional writing materials and/or electronic device if needed, however please note there may be limited power boards available.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

You do not need to bring your printed ticket, however we ask you please bring identification for your registration upon arrival. Please read all information provided on your ticket confirmation prior to the event.

Attendance to this event is free. If you are unable to attend we ask that you contact us so we can adjust the numbers for catering and seating purposes. You may transfer your ticket to a colleague - please inform us on healthyfutures@chester.ac.uk so we can update the registration list.
