Event description

Description

One in seven (14.2%) children and young people under the age of 18 will have lived with domestic violence at some point in their childhood. (Radford et al, 2011)

The aim of this event is to gain an understanding of how the trauma of domestic abuse affects children and young people and how that may shape their future lives.

Guest speakers are Norma Howes and Wendy Thorogood.

Norma Howes trained as a social worker, child forensic psychologist and is now a sensorimotor psychotherapist and trainer. She has worked for more than 30 years with children, young people and adults who have experienced some of the worst forms of abuse. She has a particular interest in the impact of domestic abuse throughout the lifespan.

Wendy Thorogood is the Designated Nurse Consultant for children at NHS Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group.

This event is suitable for all parties that come into regular contact with children and young people or victims and survivors of Domestic Abuse.
