Sickle cell disorder: addressing challenges across the community

Sickle cell disorder is suffered silently by many in London. This event will present patients' stories of sickle cell disorder and discuss the challenges they face, particularly in health provision and services support.

This docufilm was recently shown at London Met in partnership with Whittington Health NHS Trust to give academics, clinicians, patients and the public a chance to learn and converse about the realities of living with sickle cell. The film was produced by The Red Cell Network and Black Thrive Haringey and it uses individuals' stories to raise awareness of sickle cell disorder and the challenges facing both patients and the NHS. In addition to that we will be join by Michelle MG a Holistic Herbal & Aromatherapy Practitioner and Consultant who runs the business SICKLE & SETTLE a family owned business on a mission to support children and families with sickle cell. Her business promotes their own hand-crafted products that help with daily pain relief. Seeing first-hand how effective the baths salts were for easing her sons’ pains and how alleviating the child-friendly essential oil pulse point roller balls were during crisis and hospital visits, was enough for them to start doing their own research on the health benefits and healing properties of using natural products infused with essential oils.
