Hearing the Cries of the World

Hearing the Cries of the World

By Shrewsbury Triratna Buddhist Centre

Overview

A day retreat inspired by Joanna Macy and Avalokiteshvara. Drawing on the dharma, systems theory and deep ecology.

Drawing on the Dharma, systems theory, and deep ecology, The Work That Reconnects strengthens our capacity to give our best response to the social and ecological challenges confronting us. The day will involve a transformative journey of four successive stages

  • When we come from gratitude, we become more present to the life around us and to the many gifts we receive.
  • We honour our pain for the world by making space to hear our feelings in response to what is happening in our world.
  • When we see with new eyes, we deepen our recognition of our mutual belonging in the living Earth and recognition of a new kind of power we can apply to a life-sustaining society.
  • We can then go forth into the world with a fresh vision and practical steps.

This day will take place at the Shrewsbury Buddhist Centre 10.00 am to 5.00pm. And will be run by the Sheffield Buddhist centre’s WTR facilitators group.

Expect meditation, exercises, talks, conversations and ritual!

For the workshop, we ask for a non-refundable deposit of £10 at the point when you book to secure your place. We are running this workshop on the basis of dana and an additional contribution of £40 is suggested. This can be paid directly to the centre on the day.
