ABOUT:

For centuries, mystics and sages have known about the wisdom the human heart holds, and methods to tap into this source have been passed from teacher to student.

Heart Meditation is one such method. Some call it 'the path of the heart'.

The journey starts with learning to listen to your own heart beat, and this is made easier through the use of specific rhythms played on ancient Persian instruments.

Aside from the health benefits of becoming more heart connected, which can include lower stress levels and better sleep quality, the practitioner will also, over time, benefit from a deeper understanding of their true self and the source of their existence.

This drop-in drumming circle is aimed at helping you to distinguish and connect with your heartbeat. Each session will start with a brief intro to Heart Meditation, followed by the basic drumming techniques. We will then play rhythms as a group, interspersed with deep focus on the heart.

All are welcome! N o previous experience is required and Daf (frame drums) will be provided.

We suggest wearing lose fitting, comfy clothes and ideally don't eat for a couple of hours before the class.

Class is on a donation basis (Suggested £5-£10) to cover room hire. Any additional money will go towards charity.

Frequently asked questions

Which session should I sign up for, the 7pm or the 8.15pm one?

If you have never been before then sign up for the 7pm session, as this will cover an introduction. Once you have got the basics, you can join the regular group at 8.15pm.

Should I bring my own instrument?

No. We will provide all attendees with a specific type of frame drum which is conducive to this type of meditation practice. So just come as you are :)

Are children allowed?

I'm afraid, due to the nature of this specific event and the extended periods of silence during meditation, it is best not to bring children along. If there is demand, we can create a family friendly version in the future.

Do I need to have any previous experience in drumming or meditation?

No previous experience in either is required. We will demonstrate how to play the drum during the session and will walk you through the meditation practice.

Do I have to sign-up to all the events?

No, you're welcome to join at any stage. Come to all of them, or just one. It's a drop-in arrangement. As long as you book for the session you wish to attend then you have a place :)
