Hearth is a new dinner club from the chefs at m.u.d.
Usually a closed group, we meet weekly to make art from plants and cook dinner for each other. We've wanted to open up our food rituals to a wider audience for a while, so what better time than when the summer is tilting into autumn?
Join us in our nature reserve to celebrate the simplicity of fresh ingredients and the joy of heartfelt cooking. It's the very glue that holds our group together!
What to expect
This Italian feast will include a starter, main, breads, dessert, and a non-alcoholic drink (this is an alcohol-free space). Our group has pickled the late green tomatoes from our kitchen garden, shaken out nasturtium seeds for a caper substitute, and wrestled with our early apples to make jam for this vegan feast.
Please note: this meal will include nuts (straight from Tilly’s dad’s almond trees).
Our m.u.d chefs are Tilly Smith and Leila Mistretta, two creative English-Italians with a skill for combining community and food in relaxed settings. This dinner club will be supported by other m.u.d members, preparing food and serving to our guests.
Tickets
The prices are sliding scale to accommodate for different incomes and current life circumstances. £15 at the base level, £20 in the middle, and £30 at the top. Take a look at this diagram if you're unsure what to pay.
If you would like to join us but can't afford a ticket right now, please let us know and we'll do our best to find space for you.
All proceeds from this dinner will go straight back into our community group.
Access info
Our garden is step free with wide paths and even ground. The nature reserve has wide paths too, they just have bark chippings underfoot. Our building is step-free with an accessible toilet, ventilation, and a small quiet room.
A bit about us
m.u.d is a wellbeing group where 18-25 year-olds meet weekly to commune with the natural world. We are a part of the Sydenham Garden family, and whilst our books are currently closed, you can stay in touch with us over on our Instagram page.
