We are delighted to welcome the Heath Quartet and Tom Poster to Cambridge for the return of our Chamber Concert series to the House at Kettle's Yard.
The dynamic and charismatic Heath Quartet are rapidly earning a reputation as one of the most exciting British chamber ensembles of the moment. Most recently they won Gramophone Chamber Award 2016 for their recording of the complete string quartets of Sir Michael Tippett, and in May 2013 became the first ensemble in fifteen years to win the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society’s Young Artists Award. Formed in 2002 at the Royal Northern College of Music they were selected for representation by YCAT, awarded a Borletti-Buitoni Special Ensemble Scholarship and in 2012 won the Ensemble Prize at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern where they are now regular visitors.
They will be performing:
Haydn: String Quartet ... Op.76 No.TBC
Jorg Widmann: String Quartet No.2
Schumann: Piano Quartet
Doors open 7.30pm, concert begins at 8pm
Kettle’s Yard is the University of Cambridge’s modern and contemporary art gallery. Music has always been played at Kettle’s Yard. There are two pianos in the House at Kettle’s Yard and when it was a home to Jim and Helen Ede they used to hold small concerts. Now we continue to present concerts. While Kettle’s Yard is closed for our major building project we are holding concerts in the Old Divinity School at St John’s College in Cambridge.
