About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join the Chobham Commons Preservation Committee on a free guided walk to explore the history and historical sites of the southern part of Chobham Common. The Chobham Common Great Camp was held in the summer of 1853, when 16,000 troops in two tranches were involved in training exercise across the common. Queen Victoria reviewed the troops, attracting thousands of visitors to view the spectacle. Your guide has a wealth of local knowledge to share and you’ll visit a miscellany of locations you might otherwise miss while walking on the common.
