Event description

Description

Horsell Common Preservation Society manages over 900 acres of high forest, woodland and meadows, but also areas of lowland heath that forms part of the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protected Area. A new wetland centre was opened in 2016 on an old mushroom farm and industrial site. The site is now designated as a Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) which provides development mitigation by reducing recreational pressure on the Thames Basin Heath SPA.

We will be meeting at Heather Farm Wetland Centre with an introduction to the site history. We will then go for a tour around the new bio-mass boiler and operation, to see how they process the waste wood from their conservation activities into useable fuel.

For more information please contact Richard Westwood on Richard.Westwood@bracknell-forest.gov.uk or phone 01344 354448.

There are a cafe and toilets on site.

CMA members free; Non-members £40.
