Hector and the Search for Happiness - exclusive screening

Join us for an exclusive preview screening of this summer's hit film Hector and the Search for Happiness, including a special interactive discussion after the film.

Suzy Greaves (Psychologies) and Nic Marks (Happiness Works) will join Mark Williamson (Action for Happiness) to discuss the film and hear audience reactions.

About The Film

Hector (Simon Pegg) is a young psychiatrist who is tired of his humdrum life. As he tells his girlfriend Clara (Rosamund Pike), he feels like a fraud: he's not happy and he's offering advice to his patients who aren't getting any happier either.

So Hector breaks out of his normal routine and embarks on a memorable journey to discover what really makes people happy.

"A feel-good treat... Simon Pegg is brilliant" ~ Daily Express

About The Event

Here at Action for Happiness we're delighted that a mainstream film is addressing the question of what makes people happy. But we're also keen hear people's reactions to the film's message - and especially those of our members and supporters.

So as well having a unique chance to watch the film before its general cinema release we will also be having an interactive discussion after the film with special guests:

Nic Marks is one of the world's leading experts in happiness and wellbeing. He founded the Centre for Wellbeing at NEF and is director of Happiness Works.

* Suzy Greaves is a journalist, best-selling author, life coach and editor of Psychologies magazine. She has a great interest in happiness and what makes people happy.

* Mark Williamson is Director of Action for Happiness. He is passionate about helping people lead happier and more fulfilling lives.

Location and Timings

This event will take place at the May Fair Hotel Theatre in central London on Monday 11 August 2014. Doors will open at 18:00 and the film will start at 18:30. After the film there will be a discussion with our speakers and the audience.

This event is in support of Action for Happiness. We want to make it accessible to as many people as possible, so rather than charging a fixed fee we're instead asking you to make a donation. It would be great if you could donate £15, but if you can spare more, or feel unable to give that much, then please give what you feel is appropriate.

Any funds raised (beyond the costs of putting on the event) will contribute directly to Action for Happiness' work relating to growing the movement and supporting local action groups relating to happiness and well-being. Action for Happiness is part of the Young Foundation, which is a Registered Charity (274345) in England and Wales.

Any questions about the event please contact

We look forward to seeing you there!
