Help us create a new hedgerow in the beautiful Chew Valley countryside!
This small farmland site has been managed for nature for the last 3 years. We will be planting a new hedgerow along the public right of way that runs through the field, helping to link up existing wildlife corridors and create more food and shelter for wildlife that rely on hedgerows for their survival.
Directions
The turning to the field is off Northwick rd, next to Evergreen cottage. The What3words for the turning is: ///feeds.metro.path. Follow the track down and park as close as you can to the field.
About Hedgerow Heroes
At CPRE Avon and Bristol we have an ambition to create/restore 10km hedgerow by CPRE’s centenary year in 2026. Over the last 3 years we have achieved 5.85km of our target, which wouldn’t have been possible without the fantastic work of volunteers. This winter our Hedgerow Heroes project continues to grow bigger and better, now taking place across the counties of South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset, and North Somerset.
Planting and restoring hedgerows can prevent soil erosion, increase biodiversity by providing wildlife habitat for many species of birds, insects, butterflies and small mammals and can increase the overall aesthetic appeal of a landscape.
We still need your help!
