HEIFES16 beginners/refresher seminars – HEIFES tables and guidance for 2016-17

These seminars are intended for people who will be completing HEIFES16, those responsible for verifying the data, and people looking to gain an understanding of the changes for 2016‑17. Please note there is no charge for attending a seminar.

Topics include HEFCE funding and how it is calculated from data, funding rules and definitions, completing the tables, data verification timescales and processes.

The event will cover HEFCE funding definitions that also apply to ILR data so this seminar is also suitable for people with responsibility for completing higher education fields of their college’s ILR returns. We also encourage attendance from HE Managers to increase their understanding of how their funding is calculated and to enable them to play a fuller part in checking the data.

Delegates can choose to attend the seminar in one of the following three venues:

  • Bristol - Tuesday 27 September 2016
Doubletree Hotel by Hilton, Redcliffe Way, Bristol BS1 6NJ

  • Manchester - Tuesday 4 October 2016
King’s House conference centre, King’s Church, Sidney Street, Manchester M1 7HB

  • London - Tuesday 11 October 2016
Friends House, 173-177 Euston Road, London NW1 2BJ

Programme

The seminars will provide an overview of HEFCE funding and links to data, how to complete your HEIFES16 survey for different students, definitions used and the process of verifying the data. There will be interactive sessions on completing the survey and opportunities to ask questions throughout the day.

Who should attend

Attendees should be those who will be completing the HEIFES16 return and/or HE fields of ILR data, those with responsibility for ensuring the data has been verified and those who are looking to gain an understanding of the changes for 2016‑17. Delegates need no previous knowledge of the HEIFES return to attend, but we recommend that they know about the types of higher education courses at their college (for example, how and when they are delivered) and the college’s data collection systems. We also recommend that delegates read our Guide to Funding 2016-17 before they attend.

We welcome up to two delegates per college. If you would like more than two delegates to attend please contact us at recurrentgrant@hefce.ac.uk and we will hold a waiting list.

We are holding seminars in Bristol, Manchester and London. Each event will cover the same content. Coffee from 9.30am and finish by 4.00pm.

The deadline for registration for the London seminar is 23 September 2016. This page is for the London seminar only.
