Event description

Description

The Higher Education Introductory Studies (HEIS) Social Sciences pathway programme is an introductory course for people with no prior qualifications, to give them a pathway into Higher Education. It is being delivered in Tottenham from October 2017 - June 2018, one to two evenings a week.

As well as modules on Politics, Maths and Statistics and Sociology, the programme focuses on study skills and will help students develop skills to help them with their future work or study, including critical thinking, electronic research, writing essays, and time management.

Bursaries of £1500 are available to 15 residents of Tottenham on a first come, first served basis. Students on the course will also be able to apply for Birkbeck's means tested bursary of £800.

If you decide you would like to apply to our HEIS Social Sciences Pathway then friendly, welcoming on staff will be on hand to help you with the next steps.

We understand that the application process can seem daunting. We will give you an overview of what Birkbeck expects from an application, and will include practical writing exercises to help you demonstrate your experience and commitment. While we can’t guarantee that your application will be successful, we can give you the knowledge and support you need to write a clear and engaging application.

This free session is intended for applications for HEIS Social Sciences programme in Tottenham only.
