Event description

Description

The Helicopter Stories approach, pioneered by Vivian Gussin Paley and championed in the UK by Trisha Lee, supported by Isla Hill and theatre and education charity MakeBelieve Arts, harnesses the power of storytelling to inspire powerful learning outcomes in key curriculum areas, such as Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development and early compositional skills in Writing. Trisha Lee's workshops are fully interactive and practical.

Why choose Helicopter Stories?

  • It is an inclusive whole-class approach to learning that values every child’s contribution.

  • It engages creativity, boosts selfconfidence and improves speaking and listening skills

  • It promotes collaborative learning in a supportive, safe environment

  • And it allows children to explore the power of words, forming a bridge into the world of writing

Stramash Outdoor Nursery, Elgin, is a fitting location for such a high quality training event. Having developed use of the approach in an outdoor setting they have seen it become an integral part of childrens everyday play and exploration of the natural world, creating stories that reflect play and place. The approach s being taken forward as a key transition tool from nursery to P1.
