🌼 Calling All Volunteers – Help Create Elvaston’s First Well Dressing! 🌼
We’re excited to announce that the Elvaston Estate will be unveiling its very first well dressing as part of this year’s Elvaston Village Fete on Saturday 28th June!
For those unfamiliar, well dressing is a beautiful Derbyshire tradition of decorating wells and water sources using natural materials like petals, seeds and leaves set into clay. It’s a wonderful, hands-on process that brings people together to create a truly stunning piece of art rooted in local heritage.
🧑🎨 We’re looking for volunteers to help prepare and petal the well dressing Monday 23 to Friday 27 June inclusive. This is a free activity.
👉 What we need:
- Someone with plastering experience to help lay and smooth the clay on Monday morning. Please DM us if you are able to help.
- Volunteers to help with petalling between 1–4pm, Monday to Friday. Places are limited each day to ensure everyone gets a turn.
- Donations of dark red geraniums are also welcome! Please drop donations off at the estate office.
🎟 Book your volunteer slot via Eventbrite.
Please note that you will be standing for the total period, although there will be plenty of breaks to sit down and refreshments will be provided.
There will be the opportunity for sit down tasks on Thursday and Friday (only) i.e. separating the petals.
We’d love for you to be part of this first for Elvaston. 🌺
