Event description
Developing maternity services in South Tyneside and Sunderland Maternity Voices Partnership.

About this Event

Had a baby at South Tyneside or Sunderland Hospital in the last year? Or are you planning to have a baby?

We are seeking to establish a new joint Maternity Voices partnership for both areas so we are keen to hear from:

• New mams or dads who have recently had a baby in South Tyneside or Sunderland

• A community group who works with new parents or prospective new parents

• People interested in making maternity services even better

NHS organisations involved in maternity care are seeking mums, dads, grandparents, groups and individuals who would like to get involved in sharing their views on maternity care by joining the South Tyneside and Sunderland Maternity Voices partnership.

Maternity Voices, made up from a range of people and organisations interested in maternity care, will help to shape these services for the future by providing important feedback.

Already big changes have taken place, with the creation of a state of the art Midwifery-Led Birthing Centre at South Tyneside District Hospital, which has welcomed over 100 new babies since opening in August.

This new service is in addition to the midwife-led care and consultant-led care located together at Sunderland Royal Hospital, as well as access to home births in both localities. Together, these services help make sure women have choices about how and where they would like to have their babies.

Now there is a further opportunity to shape and improve services, in particular in the creation of a community maternity hub in South Tyneside, providing more maternity care as part of the Birthing Centre.

Join us for registration from 10.30am onwards, to share your views and experiences on local maternity options.

Enjoy a free healthy lunch for you and your family, free crèche facilities provided by The CrècheMobile (subject to availability and pre-registration), wi-fi access. Places are available on a first come, first served basis.

New parents, parents to be and children are welcome. Please confirm ages of any children when booking.

*Please note that the creche facility is available to children up to 5 years.

If you have any special requirements - eg. wheelchair access or special dietary requirements please let us know by calling 0191 374 4242.

You do not need to print off this invitation to attend.

We look forward to meeting you.

NHS Path to Excellence.
