Help Turn Trash into Treasure - Community Art Installation
Date and time
How do we turn trash into treasure?
About this event
The three-day contemporary art project is open to all members of public. During a 90-minute session of your choice, you will help design a striking community piece of art from used or discarded items. Recycled art (also known as ‘upcycled’ or ‘repurposed’ art) consists of objects made from waste materials such as scrap metal, textiles, plastics, and paper products. These can all contain layers of symbolic meaning. Hazel Florence Boland a community artist will work alongside those who may not usually participate in the arts, stimulating a dialogue about our global responsibilities and drawing attention to the range of 'stuff' we dispose of on a daily basis. The final creation will be exhibited on campus in and around Queen’s University where it will act as a reminder of our modern ‘throw away’ culture.
