About this event
This workshop will help develop knowledge and understanding of speech sound development in children. How speech sounds (pronunciation of sounds) develop in children, what errors can be seen and what strategies and games can be played to support them.
Please note this is universal advice and useful for children at the start of their speech therapy journey and not appropriate for child who have already received specialised advice by a speech and language therapist.
Learning Outcomes
To gain an understanding of normal speech sound development, and typical errors that might be seen in children
To be able to assess a child’s speech sounds using use speech sound screen from the Early Years Communication and Language Toolkit
To discuss a range of universal strategies and games which can be used to support a child’s speech sound development
Target Audience
Any practitioners working with children can attend including schools, pre-schools, nurseries, childminders, 0-19 team, children’s centre staff, early help and social care staff etc.
Any parent who is interested in universal strategies that can be used to support their child’s speech sound skills.
