Aging and wellness are two of the hottest topics in the healthcare world today. The “silver tsunami” is upon us and in this aging world, chiropractors need specialisedtraining to better assess and care for older patients, with a focus on health promotion and prevention.

This course is accredited for 11 CPD Hours by the European Academy of Chiropractic. 


Course Synopsis

In this interactive weekend, we will examine health concerns related to aging, comprehensive assessment, nutrition, and chiropractic technique and management of older adult patients.


Seminar Goals: The chiropractor/attendee will


Become familiar with normal age-related changes and evidence-based health promotion and prevention strategies for our aging patients
Learn and practice several evidence-based assessments for our older adult patients
Examine and practice chiropractic geriatric adjusting skills with the patient’s safety and comfort in mind

Outline of Session:


Healthy Aging in the UK, and a Role for Chiropractic (1 hr)
Cases: Unique Clinical Presentations of Older Patients (1 hour)
Assessing the Older Patient (1 hour)
Health Promotion and Prevention in Aging
o Nutrition and Aging (1.5 hrs)
o Physical Activity and Aging (2 hrs)
o Strength
o Flexibility
o Cardiovascular Fitness
o Balance
Introduction to “Geriatric Adjusting” (1.5 hours)
o Injury Prevention and Chiropractic Care
o Summary of leading malpractice claims in elder adjusting
Safe Adjusting Strategies (2 hours)
o Injury risk and patient comfort in
o Cervical spine
o Thoracic spine
o Lumbo-pelvic region
o Extremities
Geriatric-Friendly Practice (20 min)
Advantages of Aging (10 min)
Closing Remarks: Chiropractic and Care of Aging Patients (30 hours)



Lisa Killinger, DC is a professor of Diagnosis at Palmer College of Chiropractic, where she earned her degree in 1983. She has conducted research and developed curricula for the US Government on the topic of Geriatrics, and is well published on the topic of Aging and interdisciplinary care.

In the event that the course is cancelled or re-scheduled by the course organiser, a full refund of fees will be given, but the college takes no responsibility for travel or accommodation expenses incurred by the delegate. 

If for any reason you are unable to attend the seminar please be aware that fees will be refunded, less a £10 administration charge, for all cancellations received at least 30 days before the event. Cancellations received after the 30 day period but 7 days prior to the seminar date will receive a 50% refund less the £10 administration charge. No refunds can be given after this time.
