#helpoften at the moonwalk
Sun 14 May 2017, 06:00 – 12:00 BST
Have you ever wondered what the sunrise looks like in central london... while thousands of amazing people wearing bras walk by you on a 26 mile journey to raise money for breast cancer? Well now is the time to find out!
As our May help often action we'll be volunteering bright and early on Sunday morning at the MoonWalk London.
The MoonWalk London involves 15,000 women and men leaving Clapham Common at midnight wearing decorated bras to walk either a full or half marathon, raising money and awareness for breast cancer…quite a sight to behold! In turn Walk the Walk (the charity which runs the MoonWalk) relies on 2000 incredible Volunteers to provide support, encouragement and (most importantly) hugs to everyone!
We'll be working in groups in a number of volunteer roles such as marshalling the route and cheering walkers on, handing out sustenance as walkers power through the 26 mile route, or helping at the finish line.
We'll be meeting at 6am (yes really) at Clapham Common and then we'll be chaffeured to our volunteering locations. It may be an early start but really how many times in your life are you going to be able to watch the sun come up in central london during a night time marathon?
Bring with you:
You'll get a cap and t-shirt and there will be some light snacks at Moonwalk City (which is the Clapham Common location), but bring warm layers and some snacks of your own for when you're on the route.
What about after the MoonWalk?
Once we know numbers I shall source a friendly pub/food market for some well earned chill time and food for those who want to continue the party.
