Henley May Fayre is returning to its original roots - on Monday 1st May this iconic event will take place in the Market Place, Henley on Thames.
We have over 20 stall holders providing sweets and popcorn, face painting, cakes, Tombola and other children’s games. We also have a selection of vintage attractions that many will remember from the early days of the May Fayre, such as Strongman Striker, Coconut Shy, Splat the Rat, Buzz Wire and Hook the Duck.
Local food and beverage retailers will be cooking hot dogs for the children. For the parents we have hot drinks, soft drinks, beer and a gin & prosecco VW caravanette.
But the main attraction will be the May Pole which will be situated in the Square. The May Pole dancers will open the event at 12 noon so do come along to watch it.
Throughout the day there will be dancing and gymnastics from Divas & Dudes, Springbox Gymnastics, Joe Flynn’s Irish Dancers and of course no May Fayre is complete without the traditional Morris Dancers.
And at 4pm we have our Tug of War challenge. The Rowbarge Inn will be taking on Henley Hawks Women. We are also inviting teams of 8 to come along and challenge the Hawks. Just meet us outside Facy at 4pm.
The day will finish with some toe tapping music from Sam Brown and her Ukulele Club.
FANCY DRESS JUDGED BY ANGIE BEST: We are also running a fancy dress competition to all children. Just come along in any fancy dress and meet us on the steps of the Town Hall where a Angie will judge the very best boy and girl costume. The winner will be crowned May King & May Queen.
We would also like to acknowledge our sponsors who have helped us to put this event together.
